For private schools
Where every great thing gets a next chapter.
Sequel gives every member of your school community — parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty — a safe, branded place to buy and sell their things in person. Free for the school. Built for trust. With proceeds that can flow directly to your annual fund.
Why schools partner with Sequel
Each marketplace is bounded to the families of one school. Access is approved by your community manager. No public listings. No outside buyers. No exposure of children, ever.
No platform fee. No setup cost. No staffing burden. Sequel hosts the technology and supports the community; you simply approve who belongs and let the network do the rest.
With Donate It, members can route the full proceeds of a sale to the school's 501(c)(3) — receiving a year-end tax receipt. A practical, recurring engine for your annual fund.
How it works
You decide who gets access — parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty. Your community manager controls roles on a single dashboard. We never sell or share your roster.
Snap a photo. Our AI cleanly isolates the object on a neutral background and generates a polished product description. The seller adds condition notes and sets a price (minimum $10).
Payment is captured at checkout through Stripe — credit, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Each seller carries a rotating six-digit code, not a name. Identities are only exchanged once a transaction is confirmed.
Items are handed off on campus or at a place the parties choose. Funds are released to the seller — or, with Donate It, directly to the school. No shipping, no logistics, no friction.
Built for trust
A school community is not a marketplace audience. It is a circle of trust. Sequel is engineered around that distinction — beginning with who can enter, and continuing through every interaction inside.
Only individuals your school authorizes can see or transact in your marketplace.
Sellers are never visible by name during browsing. Identities are revealed only after a sale is confirmed and to the parties involved.
Our system isolates the item being sold and replaces the background. Faces and people are never shown, and no facial recognition is used anywhere in the product.
All money moves through Stripe Connect with payout records to the seller's verified bank account. The anonymity shield holds.
The economics
Frequently asked
Only the people your school approves. That typically includes current families, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and staff — but the school sets the rules. We never enroll a user without your authorization, and we do not share access with any other school's community.
Designate a community manager to approve members. Communicate the launch to your families. That's it. Sequel handles the technology, payments, support, and ongoing operations. We do not require staff time, IT integration, or contract minimums.
Children are never depicted in listings — our AI isolates the item being sold and removes its surroundings entirely. Sellers are anonymous to buyers during browsing, identified only by a rotating six-digit code. There is no facial recognition anywhere in Sequel. Identities are exchanged only between the two parties to a confirmed transaction.
Any seller can choose Donate It at the time of listing. When the item sells, the full proceeds are routed to the school's 501(c)(3) account. Sequel automatically generates the year-end tax receipt on the school's behalf — issued in the school's legal name and EIN, and delivered by email to the donor on file — and provides the school with a complete record of every donation for its annual fund ledger. No postage, no manual processing, no staff time required.
Two streams. A 10% fee on every transaction, which covers Stripe's payment processing as well as our hosting, support, and platform development. And local sponsor advertising — up to twelve sponsorship positions per school that rotate through four homepage placements over the year. We do not sell user data. We do not run third-party ad networks.
Typically: clothing, jewelry and accessories, uniforms, sporting goods, instruments, home furnishings, books, laptops, electronics, gaming consoles, lawn and garden tools and equipment, seasonal items and much more. Anything legal, in good condition, and worth at least $10 (smaller items can be bundled).
Sequel does not support the sale of any item that requires a transfer of deed or title — including automobiles, boats, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, trailers, firearms, and real property. Anything illegal to sell under federal, state, or local law is also prohibited. Schools may publish additional disallowed categories specific to their community.
Yes. Partnership agreements include a clean off-ramp. There is no long-term contract obligation and no exit fee.
Founding school partners
We are partnering with a small founding cohort of private schools across the country. Founding partners shape the product, lock in priority support, and receive elevated placement in our launch communications. Tell us a little about your school and we'll be in touch within 48 hours.
